Video Blog 1: Homicides, Killings of Young People, and Mental Illness

Share

In 2013, the U.S. experienced a SURGE in homicides and, specifically, the brutal killing of young people under 18 years old. Gang rapes are more rampant than in previous years and one of the main causes of death in 2012 was not murder by some random stranger. It was murder at the hands of relatives, spouses, and friends.

Cities like Chicago, IL experienced approximately 500 homicides in 2012. Detroit, Michigan reported 386 and even a usually uneventful place like Fresno, California saw 200 gang and gun related shootings and 51 homicides msotly due to domestic violence.

Sure, putting guards in schools (as proposed by LaPierre of the NRA) and sweeping the streets clean of guns will help. But, will it get to the real root of the problem?

What do you think?

Until next time…

Guns and guards won’t get to the real root of the problem. Self awareness can reduce those incidents too. Hope that all will be well by near future. BTW, great video, Traci.

Putting guards in schools and sweeping the streets clean of guns will help but that’s not the end. Social awareness, self consciousness is needed.

Two thumbs up for this nice video!

I think that self consciousness can play a vital role on this issue. One thing to remember that nothing can be changed by overnight. Planning, awareness & execution may help.

    Anyways,great post. Thanks again.
